Arthur's Upload #3 (1992)

Directors: Rémy Belvaux, André Bonzel, Benoit Poelvoorde
Country: Belgium (Film is in French)
Length: 95 minutes
Genres: Black Comedy, Mockumentary

This is probably one of the funniest films I have ever seen, and the 2nd best film of the 90s. It's a mockumentary about this film crew making some documentary about a serial killer, following who he kills and how he does them. Eventually the film crew is interesting in this, and join in on the killings. People will either find this film extremely offensive or extremely hilarious, maybe even both. If a film manages to intentionally make you laugh in a rape scene, that's skills.

Старик и море [The Old Man and the Sea] (1999)

Director: Александр Петров (Aleksandr Petrov)
Runtime: 20 minutes
Language: English
Genre: Animation, Adventure

Based on the novella written by author Earnest Hemingway, this Russian short film features beautiful finger painted pastel oil paintings on glass animation by Aleksandr Petrov, the pioneer of the style. This film is a beautiful work of art for the two years of painstaking effort put in to the making of the animation. But the film isn't just visually impressive, Petrov also does a fantastic job of portraying the character's inner thoughts and feelings. There's one scene where the old man dozed off, and had a dream he and the marlin were brothers swimming together through the sky.

I Am So Proud of You (2008)

Director: Don Hertzfeldt
Country: United States
Length: 22 minutes
Genre: Animation, Black Comedy, Surrealism, Drama

The sequel to Everything Will Be Ok, I Am So Proud of You shows Bill's childhood and his eventual death. Don Hertzfeldt does just as fantastic of a job making the viewer laugh at the most Linkdisturbing events as he did in the previous short. The genius of his shorts is that not only are they hilarious but they can also affect you on a deep emotional level.

Don continues his innovative technique here as he introduced in the previous installment in the series of using multiple frames at a same time, sometimes having a frame for the drawn stick figures and another for film on screen at the same time.

Arthur's Upload #2 720p (1981)

Director: Brian De Palma
Country: USA
Length: 108 minutes
Genre: Thriller

One of the latest additions of the Criterion Collection (protip: if you want to see some good movies, watch movies from Criterion). I'm just gonna say this straight up, this Travolta's best film. Yes, it's better than Pulp Fiction. It's a fantastic thriller where a sound man for bad slasher flicks is recording sound effects for wind, and he witnesses a murder. He finds out that the person murdered was someone running for president, and he's convinced that there's a conspiracy going on and he's using the sounds he recorded to prove it. Unlike most thrillers where it seems like you're just watching some people unraveling something, it feels like you're actually unraveling information with them. Because everything is being slowly unraveled as well, it makes the film a lot more intense.

It's a BRRIP and the size is around 1.86 gigs. It's an mkv file with English subs (even though the film is in English).

Arthur's Upload #1 (2009)

Director: Scott Sanders
Country: USA
Length: 90 minutes
Genres: Parody, Blaxploitation, Martial Arts

I decided not to add the title of the film on the title of the post since this is a newer film and I wanna be safe. Besides, you can tell what film it is with the poster anyways.

Anyways, about this film. I LOVE exploitation films, especially blaxploitation movies. But to make a parody that is not only one of the best parodies I've ever seen but also a parody that surpasses every film I've seen so far in that genre, that takes some serious skills. This is an absolutely hilarious and entertaining film, it's one of the best of 2009 and also on my greatest films list.

Everything Will Be OK (2006)

Director: Don Hertzfeldt
Country: United States
Length: 17 minutes
Genre: Animation, Black Comedy, Surrealism, Drama

This animated short is about a man named Bill who's life, or lack thereof, is humorously depicted throughout the film. As it goes on Bill steadily loses his mind, probably due to some sort of mental illness like schizophrenia. Don Hertzfeldt has a unique style of using stick figure drawings and splitting the screen up in to multiple windows. The end result is a very compelling and humorous short film that stays interesting throughout its entirety.
